Rally Charities

The final tallies from the fifth annual Rally in the Valley are in and organizers from Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce are very pleased with the outcome. With the success of the event, they have been able to gift more than $15,000.00 to local charities. Interfaith Caregivers, the DARE Program, HomeCare & Hospice, Front Row Foundation, Cattaraugus County/Olean Airport Support Group, South Olean Youth Football, and the Olean Fireworks Fund are all recipients of the event’s proceeds.

 

Rally in the Valley was introduced to the area by local business leaders who saw what other communities have done with similar events and wanted to bring that same type of experience to Olean. They knew the event would draw many people from outside the area and the longer they ran the event the larger it would grow . In addition, they knew there were many bikers in this area that would love an event like this that was close to home.

 

“Through the 5th annual Rally in the Valley, we have been able to give more than $65,000.00 to local charities,” said Rally Co-Chair Dennis Jones. “The local turnout for this event was great - we had many spectators from the Olean area enjoy the motorcycle event. The community helping the community," Dan Jordan, Rally Co-Chair added. Larry Penman, Rally Co-Chair stated, “People questioned the change of the event location to the stadium this year. No question, the stadium is where the Rally should be held - events, spectators, vendors - all in one location.”

 

The Rally chairpersons also announced that the 6th Annual Rally in the Valley will be held on August 15-17, 2008 in BRADNER STADIUM, in Olean. Jones stated, “The event will be held at Bradner Stadium. The committee feels that the stadium has enabled the event to expand with more participants and sponsors, attracted more vendors, all without closing down Olean’s prime street for a day. It worked well for the rally participants, the spectators, as well as the City of Olean.” For more information, call the Chamber at 716/372-4433.
