Volunteer Opportunities with Gus Macker
The Olean High School Sports Boosters (Boosters) and the Olean City School District Foundation (OCSDF) are teaming up to present the Gus Macker Olean • ny 3 -on- 3 Basketball Tournament. Gus Macker 3-on-3 Basketball, America’s largest outdoor basketball tournament celebrating its 35th anniversary in 2008, will be held in Olean for the first time on August 15-17, 2008. The City of Olean is excited to join more than 50 other cities in the United States and Canada in hosting this fun and exciting event. This tournament fits both of the Boosters and OCSDF missions - raising funds to support the children who attend the Olean City School District. Charter members of Gus Macker Olean • ny include Park Centre Development, CUTCO/Ka-Bar Visitors Center, Southern Tier Health Care System, The Old Library Restaurant, and the Village Green.
Volunteer Opportunities
•Set-up: 8/14 - 8/15 (Thurs/Fri)
•General set up of tents, tables, chairs, courts etc.
•Drink Concession: 8/15-8/17 (Fri evening/Sat/Sun)
•Sell water and sports drinks to attendees
•Hospitality: 8/15-8/17 (Fri evening/Sat/Sun)
•Work in food and or beverage tents handing out product.
•Runners needed to drive carts, hand out refreshments to workers, and supply food
•Registration: 8/15-8/17 (Fri evening/Sat/Sun)
•Register participants; assist with trophy distribution (adults only)
•Special Events: 8/15-8/17 (Fri evening/Sat/Sun)
•Help supervisor and manage kid’s area, prize wheel and contests (ages 16+)
•Scorekeepers: 8/15-8/17 (Fri evening/Sat/Sun)
•Work in pairs courtside keeping time and score of games/assisting refs as needed. General knowledge of basketball required. (ages 18+…limited # of 15+ accepted divisions under age 10)
•Macker Assistants: 8/16-8/17 (Sat/Sun)
•Assist in distribution of water/supplies
•Assist in keeping area neat and orderly
•Sell Macker Merchandise (18+)
•Tear-Down: 8/17 (Sun)
•Assist in breaking down Macker site at the close of play Sunday
