The Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce (GOACC) and its Taste of Olean Event Committee have announced its second class of inductees to the 2008 Taste of Olean Hospitality Wall of Fame Awards program: John Sawaya, Sr., Carl Iseman, Louis and Nancy Giannechini, and the late Lucia “Lou” Bardenett.

Rally has added a BIG WHEEL ADULT RACE to its line up of events

The Bikes are back in town in August! The Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Olean Motorcycle Enthusiasts are very excited to announce the 6th Annual Rally in the Valley event is scheduled for August 15-17, 2008. The three-day event, held all at one location - Bradner Stadium, is a motorcycle rally with the proceeds from the event benefiting a host of community charities.

Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce has set its 18th Annual Taste of Olean for September 7, 2008, from 11 AM - 5 PM on the Cattaraugus County Campus of Jamestown Community College. For the ‘Tastes’ segment of the event, the committee is encouraging restaurants in the Olean area to present “tastes” of foods, not whole meals or sandwiches - smaller portions with affordable costs between 50 cents and $3.50.

Kicking off its first year in Olean, New York and 35th across the United States, entries are now being accepted for the Gus Macker 3-on-3 basketball tournament, to be played August 16, 17 on Delaware Avenue in downtown Olean. The Olean City School District Foundation and the Olean Sports Booster Club are co-sponsoring the Gus Macker 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament to Olean. Together they have made a 3-year commitment to host the tournament in Olean. John Irving, Gus Macker Co-Chair stated, “We anticipate having over 300 teams and 10,000 spectators from a 100-mile radius to attend the 3-day event and see this as a great opportunity to showcase Olean.”
