Academic Wall of Fame Inducted Three

The Olean City School District Foundation (OCSDF) installed its fourth class of inductees to the Academic Wall of Fame during Homecoming Weekend.  Three Olean High School graduates who were honored were Ronald F. Garvey, M.D. MBA, Class of 1945; Kathleen Woods Masalski, Class of 1957; and John McCarthy, Ph.D., Class of 1979.  Steven I. Pancio, OCSDF Board President states, “Students at OHS are given a strong foundation for success in the world.  These new inductees are a timely reminder of the quality of graduates the school has produced during its more than a hundred years.  The Foundation is delighted to be able to honor their contributions and achievements and it is our hope that the Wall of Fame will serve as a source of inspiration for students now and in the future.”

2005 Wall of Fame -- The first inductees to the Academic Wall of Fame were four OHS graduates and one Olean City School teacher. David Carucci, Foundation President; Louis A. Magnano, Class of 1950; Dr. Bill Wehmeyer accepting for English Department Teacher, the late Josephine Ann Marra Wehmeyer; Betty Kneiser MacDonald, Class of 1955; George Pancio, Class of 1952; Lawrence P. Sorokes, Class of 1978; Joyce Melfi, Foundation Vice-President.

2006 Wall of Fame -- The Olean City School District Foundation announced its second class of inductees to the Academic Wall of Fame.  Steve Pancio, Foundation Board Member; Christopher Leichtweis, Class of 1978; Catherine Budzinski Koebelin, Class of 1980; John Elmore, Class of 1975; Dr. Eric Storch, Class of 1993, and David Carucci, Foundation President.  Missing from photo - William 'Bill' Easley, Class of 1964.

2007 Wall of Fame -- The Olean City School District Foundation announced its third class of inductees to the Academic Wall of Fame.  Steve Pancio, Foundation President; Maureen Keenan LeBoeuf, Class of 1972; Sandy Monachino accepting on behalf of her husband,the late Vincent Monachino, an Olean High School Math Department Teacher; John J. Ash, Class of 1950; and David Carucci, Foundation Vice-President.

2008 Wall of Fame -- The Olean City School District Foundation announced its fourth class of inductees to the Academic Wall of Fame.  Steve Pancio, Foundation President, John McCarthy, Class of 1979; John J. Ash accepting for Ronald F. Garvey, Class of 1945; and Kathleen Woods Masalski, Class of 1957.
